I have been working in my full time profession for 17 years now and love my career. I am also the Chief Instructor of a Kung Fu and Stick Fighting Martial Arts system www.vt-eskrima.com, founded by me, after years of training with some of the best Masters from around the world. I have black belts/degrees in several systems and manage a group of Instructors who teach in clubs around the UK.
I have always had a great passion for writing with some of my earlier work (including accompanying Asian cartoons that I used to illustrate) appearing in a popular Asian publication. I later combined both writing and drawing to edit and publish my own Asian magazine.
Along with my career, martial arts and writing, I also enjoy watching films, reading, travelling, and playing squash. I have managed to win (luckily) many trophies since
I started playing squash, despite often being on the end of a lung busting, heart attack inducing rally by some sadistic minion of Satan, cunningly disguised as an opponent.
I still compete in tournaments every year along with playing in a tough monthly league.
My penchant for travelling has taken me all over the world to many different countries and where I have sampled a potpourri of cultures and sights: from the captivating Taj Mahal; the majestic beauty of the Great Pyramids of Giza; the serenity I found at the Golden Temple; the sniff of impending danger lurking in Caracas; the thrill of the Sea to Sky route from Vancouver to Whistler; the haunting memories of Cyprus; the splendours of Goa; down to the seductive encapsulation of the Turkish charm. However, my overall favourite destination, thus far, has to be the Maldives with it’s pearl like Islands, bobbing like jewels in the Indian Ocean.
When it comes to european destinations, my top three have to be Prague, the city of spires; a mystical and aesthetic city, brimming with hidden wonders waiting to be explored and savoured. Then there is the sexy, thumping and vibrant Barcelona, a city that conjures up a plethora of funny, but yet, awe inspiring memories, and last but not least, it would be imperial Rome, steeped in glorious history, and with an undercurrent of erstwhile power gripping and enchanting you the moment you rest your weary sandal on the cobbled stones.
I find that travelling and exploring different countries is when I truly get to recharge my batteries, relax, and most importantly spend quality time with my loved ones, this is my personal nirvana…
Best of health to you...Sonny
